Oviedo, Fla. — The Villages High School Marching Buffalo dominate in first competition of their season.
After dealing with a weather-related cancellation a week ago and practices being disturbed due to Hurricane Helene, The Villages High School Marching Buffalo took to the field at Oviedo High School Saturday afternoon for their first competition performance of the season. The FFCC Outdoor Championships hosted by Oviedo featured four teams in Class A: P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School, Middleburg High School, North Marion High School, and The Villages High School.
Judges for the competition scored The Villages as the top ensemble in four of five possible categories. The Villages earned top marks in Effect, Visual, Color Guard, and Percussion categories, while trailing North Marion by just over two-tenths of a point in the Music category. Judges also ranked The Villages Percussion section with the highest total marks among all schools in Class A and Class AA.
The Villages will now look to prepare for their annual trip to the Ocala Marching Band Festival, hosted by West Port High School in Ocala, Fla. on October 19th.
