Tavares, Fla. — The Villages High School girls bowling team captured its third straight district championship Wednesday in Tavares.
The Buffalo won the Class 1A-District 4 Tournament at Lakeside Lanes, finishing ahead of the pack in a 12-team district after rolling through the championship bracket with an unblemished 3-0 run to the title.
VHS earned the top seed after cruising through the preliminary round with the highest pinfall — which followed an undefeated regular-season record of 14-0 — setting up a three-match run to the district crown.
Once in the final bracket, the Buffalo swept South Lake (3-0) and sent East Ridge to the consolation bracket with a 3-1 victory, before dispatching East Ridge once more in the championship round with a 3-0 victory to win its third straight district championship.
The team will now turn its attention toward the FHSAA Class 1A State Championships, beginning Oct. 30, at Boardwalk Bowl Entertainment Center in Orlando.
