Middleton, Fla. — The Villages High School fall sports programs are in full swing for their respective 2024 seasons.
Here's a look back on this past week of action for the Buffalo:
SWIMMING & DIVING
The Villages High School swimming and diving teams remained unbeaten this past Tuesday, when the Buffalo hosted — and dominated — visiting Belleview at the VHS Aquatics Center in Middleton. The Buffalo rolled to a 142-24 victory in the boys competition and a 118-44 win in the girls, picking up their second sweep in as many meets this season. VHS swept the podium in five different events, including the boys 200 free, girls 100 free, boys 500 free, boys 100 breast and the boys 200 free relay. The squads are back in action at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 5 when they host Mount Dora in Middleton.
VOLLEYBALL
The Villages High School volleyball team snapped a brief two-match skid with an impressive victory Thursday night in Osceola County. The Buffalo earned a 3-1 victory (25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 28-26) on the road at St. Cloud, improving the team's record to 3-2 overall this season. As a team, the Buffalo recorded 19 aces from the service line in the win. VHS will now turn its attention to the first of two district matches on its schedule this season, as the Buffalo host Umatilla at 6 p.m. on Sept. 3 in Middleton.
BOWLING
The Villages High School girls bowling team enjoyed a victory this past Tuesday in Clermont. The Buffalo girls defeated East Ridge, 3-1, with
Logan Edelstein leading the way by rolling high games of 227 and 188, respectively. The VHS boys team was then in a tight, five-game battle on Wednesday against Eustis, but ultimately fell late in a 3-2 defeat. Both teams are slated to return to the lanes at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 4 against Lake Minneola at AMF Leesburg Lanes in Leesburg.
BOYS GOLF
After a rainout earlier in the week, The Villages High School boys golf team remained unbeaten this season with a 152-166 win on Thursday over Lake Minneola at King's Ridge Golf Course in Clermont.
Braxton Williams and Rhett Kirkland led the foursome with a nine-hole score of 37, while
Landon Howell shot a 38 and
Grady Logan and/or
Tyler Budill both signed for a 40 to round out the official scoring. The team will return to play at 4 p.m. on Sept. 3 in a rematch against Lake Minneola at Shallow Creek Championship Golf Course in Middleton.
