Middleton, Fla. – The Villages High School is set to serve as the host venue for a first-of-its-kind FHSAA event to highlight the best of Florida high school sports.
The inaugural
Florida Leadership & Athletic Sports Honors Yearly (FLASHYS) Awards, presented by the Florida Lottery, will take place on Sunday, June 7, at The Tracy Performing Arts Center in Middleton. The event begins with red carpet arrivals at 5 p.m., before a 90-minute program is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The awards show will honor and recognize the individuals and programs whose leadership, integrity and service help elevate education-based athletic programs throughout Florida.
"The FLASHYS, presented by The Florida Lottery, were created to celebrate the leadership, integrity and excellence that define education-based athletics across our state," said Craig Damon, Executive Director of the FHSAA. "We envisioned this event as a true statewide celebration, and The Villages' central location makes it the perfect place to bring Florida's high school community together. Combined with its first-class venues and welcoming atmosphere, The Villages provides an ideal home for this inaugural event."
The honors will showcase and highlight outstanding achievement in a variety of roles, with scheduled awards to be presented including:

Male & Female Athletic Trainer of the Year, presented by Perry Weather

Male & Female Official of the Year
•
Educator of the Year, presented by Morgan & Morgan
•
All-Access Award (Media Excellence)
•
Male & Female Student Leader of the Year, presented by Suncoast Credit Union
•
Male & Female Coach of the Year, presented by Nike
•
GameChanger of the Year, presented by GameChanger
VHS athletic director and head football coach,
Richard Pettus, is a finalist nomination for the Male Educator of the Year honor.
The inaugural FLASHYS will be hosted by content creator and internet sensation,
OMGITSWICKS (Josh Robinson), known for his high-energy storytelling and Florida-centric content.
