Lakeland, Fla. – The Villages High School boys cross country team is headed to states.
The Buffalo advanced as a team from their effort at the Class 2A-Region 2 Meet on Thursday at Holloway Park in Lakeland, finishing sixth overall (out of 16 teams) with an average time of 17:58.
David Probola led the way by finishing ninth individually, running a time of 16:53.6 to pace four Buffalo runners finishing in the Top 40.
Roberto Carmona-Rivero was 35th individually (18:06.2),
Joran (Gunner) Horneij took 39th (18:13.8) and
Nate Burton came in 40th overall (18:14.3).
Over on the girls side of the regional event, the Buffalo finished in 10th place as a team. Seventh-grader
Aubrey Bollenback posted the fastest time at 21:57.9 to finish 28th overall, while senior
Catherine Easley was 30th at 22:06.5 and
Annison Chandler clocked in at 22:37.5 for 40th place.
The 2025 FHSAA State Championships will be held Nov. 22 at Apalachee State Park in Tallahassee.
