Buffalo Crown 4 District Weightlifting Champs

VHS finishes as district runner-up and also third in 2A-7 Meet on Tuesday.

Bushnell, Fla. — The Villages High School boys weightlifting team crowned four individual district champions Tuesday in Bushnell.

The Buffalo finished as district runner-up in the Olympic discipline and third in the Traditional portion of the Class 2A-District 7 Meet at South Sumter High School, collecting four individual first-place finishes on the day.

Maleek Williams swept the top honors in both lifts at 238 pounds, picking up a pair of gold medals to lead the way for VHS and finish as just one of four double district champions at the nine-team event.

Tanner Ostrom finished in first place at 139 pounds in the Traditional session, while Hunter Stack took first in the unlimited division for the Olympic portion of the event.

As a team, VHS amassed a total of 15 top-three finishes across the 10 weight classes.

The squad will next turn its attention to the Class 2A-Region 2 Meet, which VHS will host April 2 inside the Buffalo Sports Complex in Middleton.
