Middleton, Fla. — The Villages High School boys weightlifting team crowned a pair of regional champions Wednesday in Middleton.

Maleek Williams and Tanner Ostrom each earned first-place honors at the Class 2A-Region 2 Meet inside the Buffalo Sports Complex at VHS, as Williams took both the Traditional and Olympic titles at 238 pounds and Ostrom finished first in the Traditional discipline at 139 pounds.

As a team, the Buffalo finished third in the Traditional (24 points) portion of the event and fourth in the Olympic discipline (25 points) across a 32-team field. VHS also tallied a total of nine top-four individual finishers on the day.

The Buffalo will now turn their attention toward the FHSAA State Championships, which will be held Friday, April 11, inside the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.
