Middleton, Fla. – The Villages High School football team remained unbeaten with a runaway district win Friday night in Middleton.
The Buffalo cruised past Eustis in a 53-6 victory at H.G. Morse Stadium, improving to 2-0 in Class 3A-District 6 play and 7-0 overall this season.
VHS jumped out to a 53-0 lead at the half, thanks to two passing touchdowns from
Jadence Kennedy and interception returns for scores by
Dominic Lopez and
Maguire Mellinger.
Tranard Roberts also added two rushing touchdowns to extend his season total to 11, while
Richard Jackson led the way defensively with eight tackles, a sack and two quarterback pressures.
The Villages also celebrated a program first in the win, as VHS successfully executed a fair-catch kick. VHS junior kicker
Keenen Boozer converted a 49-yard free kick for three points after a fair catch was made by senior
Javaris Woodard with 2:44 remaining in the second quarter.
With the win, the Buffalo earned an opportunity to play for their first district championship since 2011 on Oct. 23, when VHS hits the road to take on South Sumter in Bushnell.
Prior to that, however, The Villages (7-0) will battle Trinity Catholic (3-4) at 7 p.m. this upcoming Friday (Oct. 16) in Ocala. The Buffalo and Celtics haven't met since 2020.
