Lady Lake, Fla. – The Villages High School tennis teams enjoyed a victorious sweep over First Academy (Leesburg) on Monday in Lady Lake.

Both the Buffalo boys and girls tennis squads came away with head-to-head victories over the Eagles at Harbor Hills Country Club, with the boys securing a 4-3 win and the girls cruising to a 5-2 victory.

Hannah Campbell, Makenzie Thompson, Makenzie Rees and Maria Quincoces combined for four singles wins on the day, with Thompson and Erika Brandner later teaming up for an 8-0 doubles victory.

Over on the boys side, the trio of Rafael Mejia, An Huynh and Blake Golden each captured singles wins. Mejia then teamed up with Colten Hill for an 8-6 doubles win to secure the head-to-head team victory.

The VHS girls tennis team improved to 11-3 overall this spring, while the Buffalo boys tennis squad improved their record to 5-7 overall. The two teams are slated to return home for a 3:30 p.m. match with Citrus on April 2 in Middleton.
