Hernando, Fla. — The Villages High School girls golf team finished as runner-up at the Class 2A-District 5 Tournament on Tuesday in Hernando.

The Buffalo shot a combined 18-hole foursome score of 399 to take second place — trailing only Lecanto (370) in the standings — in a six-team race at Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club.

Sophomore Katie Allen shot an 84 for VHS, posting the second-lowest individual score on the day, while freshman Deya Shaktawat added a 99. Sophomores Abi Byron (101) and Avery Wu (115) rounded out the scoring for the Buffalo.

The Villages will now turn its attention toward the Class 2A-Region 2 event, which is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Oct. 31 at Dubsdread Golf Course in Orlando.
