Ocala, Fla. — The Villages High School swimming team produced a pair of medalists at the state swim meet Friday in Ocala.
Ava Ehinger and
Lara Braganza each finished on the podium in the 2023 Florida High School Swimming State Championships at the Florida Aquatics Swimming Training facility, representing two of six total Buffalo representatives in attendance at the Class 2A season-ending event.
Braganza finished third to take bronze in the 100 fly and also took fourth in the 200 free, while Ehinger finished fourth in the 200 free and seventh in the 200 individual medley.
The duo also teamed up with
Ella Dariano and
Caidence Reece to finish 20th in the 400-free relay event.
Emma Braun and
Bella McDowell served as alternates for the Buffalo at the competition.
As a team, VHS finished 13th out of 45 teams competing in the Class 2A state meet.
