Middleton, Fla. — In what effectively served as a regular-season finale because of Hurricane Milton, The Villages High School volleyball team sent its seniors out with a convincing victory Monday night in Middleton.
The Buffalo rolled to a 3-0 sweep (25-9, 25-6, 25-9) over visiting First Academy-Leesburg, handing their five seniors one last home win on Senior Night inside the VHS Gymnasium.
VHS recognized the quintet of Isabella Martelli, Brynn Murray,
Bailey Wright,
Rilynn Farkus and
Taylor Lewis prior to the match, hosting a pregame ceremony to honor their time in a Buffalo uniform. It was all VHS from that point on, as the Buffalo cruised to the team's sixth win via sweep this season.
The Villages, who had scheduled matches Wednesday (Lecanto) and Thursday (West Port) canceled because of Hurricane Milton's approach, finished the regular season with a 5-1 record at home.
The Buffalo will now turn their attention to postseason play with the Class 3A-District 6 Tournament, held in Middleton, which is scheduled to begin next Monday night at VHS.
