Trio of sports compete in Class 2A regional postseason this week.

Middleton, Fla. — Teams representing The Villages High School put together respectable regional postseason performances this week across the state.

Here's a look at how the Buffalo cross country, golf and swimming squads represented their respective programs:

CROSS COUNTRY
The VHS boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Class 2A-Region 2 meet Friday morning at Sand Hill Scout Reservation in Brooksville.
The Buffalo boys finished seventh out of 16 squads in the overall standings, tallying 180 team points. Nate Burton paced the Buffalo effort, placing eighth individually with a time of 17:20.29.
Over on the girls side, VHS finished 10th out of 14 teams in the standings. Annison Chandler finished as the top individual for the Buffalo, as she crossed the line 21st with a time of 22:17.95.
The 2024 FHSAA State Meet will be held Nov. 16 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee.

GOLF
The Buffalo boys and girls golf teams competed at their respective Class 2A-Region 2 events earlier this week.
The VHS girls finished as regional runner-up on Tuesday at Dubsdread Golf Course in Orlando, shooting a 368 as a foursome over 18 holes of play. Katie Allen was the top individual for the Buffalo with an 83.
The Buffalo boys took fourth on Wednesday at Dubsdread, where they tallied a 316 as a foursome, finishing just four strokes off the second and final qualifying position for the state tournament. Rhett Kirkland signed for the lowest score on the day for a Buffalo player with a 76.
The girls team will compete at the 2024 FHSAA State Tournament beginning Nov. 15 at Mission Inn Resort & Golf Club in Howey-in-the-Hills.

SWIMMING
The VHS boys and girls swim teams competed at the Class 2A-Region 2 meet on Wednesday at the FAST Pool in Ocala.
Both squads placed fifth out of 31 squads in the overall team standings, as VHS tallied two individual regional champions in three swims at the event.
Lara Braganza won both the 200 free and 100 fly events — setting school-record times in both swims — while Ava Ehinger won the 100 backstroke. A total of four school records were set, while the team also tallied personal-record times in 31 of the 40 swims at the event.
The 2024 FHSAA State Meet will take place Nov. 16 back at the FAST Pool in Ocala.
