NATIONAL SIGNING DAY: VHS Sends 5 to Next Level

Representatives from football, softball and volleyball ink their names to college.

Middleton, Fla. – The Villages High School celebrated five student-athletes signing their letters of intent Wednesday on National Signing Day in Middleton.

A pair of football players, two softball stars and a Player-of-the-Year volleyball selection each inked their names to continue their careers at the collegiate level, with two signing ceremonies held inside the VHS Gymnasium.

2026 NATIONAL SIGNING DAY
  • BRETT WIDMANN (FOOTBALL): The senior offensive lineman on The Villages High School football team signed with Valdosta State University in Georgia, after anchoring a Buffalo offensive line that helped rewrite multiple program records this past fall. Widmann, who stands 6-foot-2 and 307 pounds, figures to see early playing time at the next level.
  • KEVONTE CORBIN (FOOTBALL): The do-it-all senior for The Villages High School football team signed with Samford University in Alabama, where he'll look to dazzle fans early in his career with his dynamic ability. Corbin tallied a total of 18 touchdowns and 986 yards from scrimmage.
  • LEXY DUNN (SOFTBALL): The smash-hitting shortstop for The Villages High School softball team signed with Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, just a week ahead of her senior season kicking off in Middleton. In two seasons in a Buffalo uniform, Dunn has hit for a .431 average – leading team in both years – with 23 extra-base hits.
  • LAYLA FARRISH (SOFTBALL): The soon-to-be four-year starter for The Villages High School softball team signed with the University of Fort Lauderdale in Lauderhill, where she'll have an opportunity to show off her versatility. Farrish has played multiple defensive positions for the Buffalo, including catcher, recording an impressive .993 fielding percentage last season.
  • VIVIANA TOUCET-MARTINEZ (VOLLEYBALL): The athletic outside hitter for The Villages High School volleyball team signed with Enterprise State Community College in Alabama, after a senior season in which she earned FACA Player of the Year honors for Class 3A in District 8. Toucet led the Buffalo in kills each of the last two seasons, tallying a whopping 282 kills last fall.
