Middleton, Fla. — The Villages High School soccer teams each picked up victories on their respective Senior Night matchups this week in Middleton.
VHS BOYS 3, FOREST 1
The Buffalo boys soccer team earned a hard-fought win over visiting Forest (Ocala) on Tuesday, potting a pair of first-half goals and adding a third late to enjoy a 3-1 victory over the visiting Wildcats from The Range at H.G. Morse Stadium.
After taking advantage of a Forest own goal following a corner attempt just seven minutes in, VHS made it 2-0 on a tally from
Tanner Flynn in the 26th minute off another corner kick.
Forest made it 2-1 just before intermission and that's where the score stayed for the majority of the second half, before the Buffalo capped the win with a goal in the 76th minute from
Jaceson Globig.
VHS (8-7 overall) closes its regular-season slate with a 7 p.m. road tilt Friday night against Lake Minneola in Minneola.
VHS GIRLS 2, BELLEVIEW 0
The Buffalo girls soccer team posted yet another shutout victory — its eighth this season — in a 2-0 win over visiting Belleview on Monday from The Range at H.G. Morse Stadium.
Ana Poras was brought down in the box to earn a penalty in the 28th minute of the first half, with VHS leading scorer
Kianna Burgos stepping up and calmly striking home the PK attempt for a 1-0 lead.
VHS held off a handful of scoring chances from the Rattlers to sustain that one-goal advantage, before Burgos spun around a defender in the box and fired her 22nd goal of the season in the 55th minute for the night's final margin.
The Buffalo (10-2-2 overall) will play their regular-season finale on Thursday night when they host Vanguard (Ocala) at 7 p.m. in Middleton.
