Middleton, Fla. – The Villages High School football team wrapped up its 2025 regular-season slate with a Senior Night victory Friday in Middleton.
The Buffalo rolled Mount Dora for a 49-0 win at H.G. Morse Stadium, cruising to their sixth shutout victory of the year in dominant fashion. VHS finishes the regular season with a 9-1 overall record and now awaits the FHSAA playoff field announcement on Nov. 6.
Jadence Kennedy completed 9-of-11 passes for 287 yards and four touchdowns – setting the program single-season record with his 26th passing touchdown of the year – to lead a Buffalo offense that scored on each of its first seven possessions.
"I'm really proud of our kids and I made sure to tell them that," said VHS head coach
Richard Pettus. "We have 19 seniors that have helped carry us along all season long, and we wanted to make sure we got them a win tonight."
Tranard Roberts sprinted for an 80-yard touchdown run on the game's first play from scrimmage en route to a season-high 104 yards on just five carries, with
Antwon Johnson and
Cole Logan each adding a rushing touchdown.
Kevonte Corbin hauled in two touchdown catches to finish with 140 yards on three receptions, while both Roberts and
Ja'Marian Clark caught a touchdown each.
The Buffalo outgained the Hurricanes, 447-141, with the VHS defense forcing a pair of interceptions from both Johnson and
Noah Bennett. Mount Dora finishes its season with a 2-8 record.
"Now, the season really begins," Pettus said. "You win, you move on. You lose, you go home. We've got to keep our focus and get through another (open) week, before the playoffs start and it's time to go."
