Inverness, Fla. — The Villages High School cross country squads each finished near the middle of the pack in their respective runs at the Whispering Pines Invitational on Saturday at Whispering Pines City Park in Inverness.
The Buffalo boys finished in seventh place out of 19 teams and the VHS girls took eighth out of 14 teams in attendance, with both squads performing well throughout a more terraneous course than the season opener last week in Wildwood.
The boys team posted an average time of 18:52, with the pace led by David Probola (13th, 17:07.6) and Nate Burton (25th, 17:52.3).
The girls squad finished with an average time of 25:01, as Annison Chandler (23:46.2) and Catherine Easley (23:49.4) finished 39th and 40th, respectively.
The two teams will be back in action this Saturday for the 2025 Florida Horse Park Invitational in Ocala.
