Middleton, Fla. – Sebastian Florian and Nathan Thomas scored as The Villages High School boys soccer team defeated Trinity Catholic, 2-0, on Tuesday night in Middleton.

The Buffalo dominated possession throughout the match, controlling tempo and limiting the Celtics' offensive opportunities en route to extending their streak to 20 matches without a loss to Trinity Catholic dating back to 2011.

Florian opened the scoring with just under 20 minutes remaining in the first half, as Chase Bridges launched a precise throw-in from 20 yards out, with Florian rising to head the ball into the net for the 1-0 lead.

"It just floated there and it came right to me," Florian said with a smile after the win.

While the Celtics looked better in the second half providing fewer offensive opportunities for The Villages, Thomas added an insurance goal with under 10 minutes left in regulation.

"We were a little rough in the first half coming back from break, but the second half was better, our passing, possession and communication improved," said VHS head coach Anderson DaSilva. "I'm pleased with the win and how we finished."

A tough matchup lies ahead for The Villages, as they next travel to Montverde Academy at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

"That game will be a tough one," DaSilva said. "But I think that will also help expose our weaknesses and help get us ready for the district playoffs."
