Winter Park, Fla. – The Villages High School football team battled a pair of opponents during its Spring Classic Jamboree event Friday night in Winter Park.
The Buffalo fell by a touchdown in one half of action to reigning Class 3A state semifinalist Bishop Moore, 21-14, before finishing a half of play even with Class 6A host Lake Howell for a 21-21 tie.
The two-opponent, two-half event closed out three weeks of a spring football cycle for VHS in preparation for the 2026 season next fall.
In the night's first scrimmage, rising senior quarterback
Jadence Kennedy tossed a pair of touchdown passes to lead the way offensively.
The first score came late in the first quarter, as Kennedy found
Antwon Johnson on a seam down the middle of the field for a 68-yard strike to pull even at 7-7. Kennedy then hit
Ja'Marian Clark for a 12-yard touchdown to cap a 7-play, 75-yard drive in a two-minute offense late to close the first half of the exhibition.
In the second half against host Lake Howell, the Buffalo jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a long run by
Tranard Roberts. The senior-to-be took an inside handoff and then bounced out to the right side, where he sprinted down the sideline for a 70-yard score and a 7-0 lead.
After surrendering a pair of touchdowns, the Buffalo bounced back with another Kennedy-to-Johnson strike, as the latter took a swing pass 53 yards to paydirt for a 14-14 tie midway through the second quarter of action.
Kennedy then called his own number with just over two minutes left in the jamboree event, as the quarterback scampered into the end zone from five yards out to close the night with a 21-21 tie.
