Mount Dora, Fla. — The Villages High School girls weightlifting team opened its 2023-24 season with a pair of wins Wednesday in Mount Dora.

The Buffalo swept both the Traditional and Olympic lifts on the road against Mount Dora, pulling off a pair of 49-41 victories to start the season at 2-0 overall.

VHS took the top two spots in four weight classes — 101, 110, 119 and 129 — in both disciplines en route to the season-opening wins.

The Villages (2-0) will return to action at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 8 when they travel to Bushnell to lift against South Sumter.
