Orlando, Fla. — The Villages High School boys basketball team allowed the first 17 points Tuesday night en route to a 68-42 loss to Olympia on the road in Orlando.
The defeat was the second for the Buffalo (4-6) against the Titans (7-2) in nearly a month, after VHS fell 47-46 to Olympia back on Nov. 25 in the Florida Get Down event in Orlando.
After falling behind 17-0, a jumper by
Chris Washington Jr. with 3:44 remaining in the opening period broke the early drought for the Buffalo.
VHS eventually trailed 30-7 at the end of the first quarter by way of 11 made shot attempts from the floor by Olympia, who went on to hold a 49-18 advantage at the half.
A pair of 3-pointers early in the third quarter by
Ben Koubek was all for naught, as The Villages suffered its second consecutive loss by 25 or more points this season. The Buffalo fell 102-66 on Dec. 12 at Oak Ridge (Orlando).
Washington led VHS in scoring with 18 points and Koubek finished with 10.
VHS returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Thursday when it hosts Buchholz (Gainesville).
