Middleton, Fla. – The Villages High School boys basketball team began its run to defending a Buffalo Team Camp title Friday in Middleton.
The Buffalo went 1-1 on the first day of play inside the Buffalo Sports Complex, opening with a 68-62 loss to Miami Palmetto before rebounding with a 97-80 win over Winter Haven.
Aaron Britt, Jr. led the way in the opener with 21 points and six assists, while Zayden Garcia scored 25 points in Friday's finale. Jomar Bernard also tallied 17 points and eight rebounds in the nightcap victory.
VHS will round out its pool play with contests against Winter Park (9:40 a.m.) and Palm Beach Prep (7:00 p.m.) on Saturday in Middleton. The summertime exhibition event then gears up for a single-elimination tournament Sunday, with tickets available at the door for just $20 per day.
