Middleton, Fla. — The Villages High School wrestling team showed flashes of potential Saturday in Middleton.
VHS celebrated one individual champion and claimed four podium finishes at the eighth annual Amanda St. John Memorial Holiday Tournament, placing fifth out of 21 teams inside the Buffalo Sports Complex.
Johnathan Clohecy continued his terrific start to the season with a perfect 4-0 run through the event — placing first individually at 175 pounds — while improving to 15-0 overall this winter.
Aaron Spratt took third at 106 pounds and DJ Dunn also finished third at 126 pounds, while David Mooney placed fourth at 157 pounds.
Brandon brought home first place in the team race with 168.5 points, while Lake Highland Prep (133.5), River Ridge (130.5) and Weeki Wachee (128) all trailed behind. The Villages racked up 122 team points for fifth.
