Middleton, Fla. – The Villages High School wrestling team crowned one individual champion and took a Top 10 finish at the Amanda St. John Memorial Tournament on Saturday in Middleton.
Devinn "DJ" Dunn finished first individually at 126 pounds, going a perfect 4-0 on the day after receiving a first-round bye to spearhead the Buffalo effort. All four of Dunn's victory came by pinfall, with the finale ending on a first-period pin over Port Charlotte's Caleb Pullen.
VHS went on to place 10th overall in the team standings – out of 21 teams competing – with 76.5 team points. River Ridge (209), Port Charlotte (142.5) and McKeel Academy (140) placed top three at the event.
Cameron Martin also took fourth place individually at 215 pounds for VHS, which will now turn its attention to the district tournament on Feb. 19 at Hernando High School in Brooksville.
