Leesburg, Fla. — The Villages High School girls weightlifting took home first-place honors at the 2025 Lake-Sumter County Championship on Wednesday in Leesburg.
The Buffalo finished first overall in the Traditional lift, tallying 45 team points to capture the two-county title and pace a 12-team field at Leesburg High School.
In the Olympic discipline, the Buffalo also finished runner-up with 37 team points, trailing only Leesburg (45) in the overall standings.
Alissa Platt placed first individually at 154 pounds in the Traditional portion of the event, while the foursome of Madison Hume (101), Kenlie Ganter (110), Alexa Galewski (139) and Ke'Mari Butler (183) each finished second individually in their respective weight classes.
The quartet of Hume, Ganter, Galewski and Platt also each placed second individually in the Olympic portion of the event.
VHS will next compete at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 15 when they take on Class 1A-District 9 foe South Sumter in Bushnell.
