VHS (9-1) earns No. 4 seed in Class 2A-Region 2 playoffs.

Middleton, Fla. — The Villages High School football team will compete for a state championship.

This marks the second consecutive year VHS has qualified for the state playoffs and the sixth time in the past eight seasons.

GAME NOTES
Sink Rate: Despite earning a 49-0 win over Mount Dora in the regular-season finale, the Buffalo tumbled from No. 2 in Class 2A-Region 2, as of the most recent rankings released on Oct. 28. VHS (9-1) was bypassed by both Calvary Christian (7-3) and Cocoa (5-4) in the final set of rankings.
Stay Hot: The Buffalo enter the Class 2A state playoffs with the highest scoring average in program history, as VHS averaged 41.4 points per game through its 10 regular-season contests. That bested the previous mark set by the 2018 offense (34.2 ppg).
• Stingy Buffalo: VHS has posted six shutout victories in 2025 – the most in any single season – and only allow a program-record 8.7 points per game.
Trending Upward: After an 0-4 start that featured two losses by a combined seven points, Berkeley Prep enters the postseason on a four-game winning streak. The Buccaneers are led by junior RB/LB Luby Jones Jr., who has rushed for a team-high 699 yards with seven touchdowns this season and holds multiple Division I scholarship offers.
