Brooksville, Fla. – The Villages High School baseball team kept its season alive Saturday night in Brooksville.

The Buffalo upset No. 2 Nature Coast Tech in a winner-take-all regional quarterfinal matchup, securing an 8-2 win to advance onto the Class 3A-Region 2 semifinals next weekend.

The trio of Landon Howell, Blake McClain and Chase Dasher each had two hits apiece, with Dasher's three-run home run in the top of the sixth inning giving VHS a 7-0 lead. Konnor Briggs also struck out 11 over six innings of work and allowed just one earned run in the win.

No. 7 VHS (15-10) will now travel to No. 3 Hernando (21-5) for a three-game series, which begins at 7 p.m. Friday night in Brooksville. All three games of the series, if necessary, will be played at Hernando.
