Middleton, Fla. – With a pair of home runs, The Villages High School baseball team powered its way to victory Monday night in Middleton.
Landon Howell and
Chase Dasher each sent a ball over the outfield fence in right to lift the Buffalo to a 6-5 win over Eustis at the VHS Baseball Stadium, helping improve their record to 13-9 overall this spring.
Howell opened the scoring with a leadoff shot in the home half of the first to give The Villages a 1-0 lead early, before Dasher's three-run bomb in the third inning put VHS up 5-3. The go-ahead home run for Dasher came in his first home game of the season, after the junior outfielder missed time because of an offseason hand injury.
Konnor Briggs earned the win with seven strikeouts over 4-1/3 innings pitched and just two earned runs allowed, while
Jackson Holmes closed out the victory with five strikeouts in 2-2/3 innings of relief.
The Buffalo return to action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night when they host First Academy (Leesburg) on Senior Night. A pregame ceremony to honor four VHS seniors –
Brady Butts,
Nolan Huffman,
Garrett Shiver,
Nolan English – is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
