Middleton, Fla. – The Villages High School volleyball team opened its 2026 season with a clean sweep Monday night in Middleton.
The Buffalo dispatched visiting Vanguard with ease, 3-0, as they cruised to victory behind 25-7, 25-17 and 25-10 decisions inside the VHS Gymnasium.
VHS (1-0) was led by the 1-2 punch of
Angelyn Hunt (14 kills) and
Alexia Laws (13), with the latter also tallying six aces.
Sharon Wiechens also added a total of 10 digs in a win that featured nearly every member of the Buffalo roster receiving playing time.
"It's a great problem to have," VHS head coach
Michele Moreman said of her team's depth. "We're trying to figure out who have their spots and there's so many who are close, and they're fighting it out in practice every day. It's been cool to see our girls work on their chemistry and their unity, learn to love each other, but also learn to compete with each other."
The Villages returns to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday night when the Buffalo host Mount Dora in Middleton.
