Wesley Chapel, Fla. – The Villages High School volleyball team finished atop its division with a strong effort Saturday at the Florida Gem Tournament in Wesley Chapel.

The Buffalo captured the Bronze Division title with back-to-back sweeps inside the Wiregrass Ranch Sports Complex, capping the two-day event with a 2-0 win over McKeel Academy to take the bracket.

After opening with a pair of losses Friday, VHS (9-8 overall) bounced back for a 2-1 win over Immaculata-La Salle to find itself in the Bronze bracket on Saturday.

Once in the win-in-or-go-home format, the Buffalo began their run with a 2-0 sweep over Lakewood Ranch. The Villages then followed that result with another 2-0 victory against McKeel to take home the division title.

VHS will return to action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on the road at East Ridge in Clermont.
