Ocala, Fla. — The Villages High School swimming and diving program will once again be proudly represented at the FHSAA State Championships.
Lara Braganza picked up two first-place finishes — winning gold in both the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly — at the Class 2A-Region 1 Meet on Thursday in Ocala, qualifying the senior swimmer into the state meet held Nov. 7.
Braganza will be joined there by fellow senior and VHS diver Sebastian Price, who became the first diver in program history to clinch a spot at the state meet, after he completed a school-record performance over 11 dives.
As a team, the VHS boys finished fifth out of 17 schools competing, while the Buffalo girls took seventh out of 23 teams in attendance.
The team will now await potential at-large selections into the state meet, with the full FHSAA field announced this weekend.
