Middleton, Fla. – The Villages High School boys basketball team dazzled its fans in a home-opening rout Tuesday night in Middleton.
The Buffalo rolled to a 92-60 victory over visiting Pine Ridge inside the VHS Gymnasium, using a balanced scoring attack and a superb rebounding effort to improve to 3-1 overall this season.
"Overall, I thought (we played) really well," said VHS head coach
Colt McDowell. "I wasn't really pleased with the start. ... We handled it and settled ourselves, made some adjustments defensively, and the guys really picked it up."
A total of eight different players contributed with seven points or more in the win, led by 14 points apiece from
Kymani Weathers and
Aaron Britt, Jr. Jared Thompson added 13 points and
Ethan Bevis finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
As a team, the Buffalo held a 26-17 rebounding advantage, which included a 9-3 tilt in their favor on the offensive glass. VHS also only committed four turnovers on the night.
The Villages returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Friday night, when the Buffalo hit the road to Lakeland to take on Victory Christian.
