Middleton, Fla. — The Villages High School baseball team enjoyed a victory in its season opener Tuesday night in Middleton.
The Buffalo dispatched visiting Tavares, 9-3, to open their 2025 season slate, taking advantage of a strong start on the mound from
Lincoln Gagne and a five-run sixth inning at the VHS Baseball Stadium.
The win was also the first in the tenure of new VHS baseball head coach
Devin Anderson.
VHS (1-0) received four frames of one-hit ball from Gagne, who finished with six strikeouts and just one run allowed — coming via an error in the second inning — to earn the win in the season debut.
Torin Foley went 2-for-3 at the plate and reached base in all four plate appearances, while finishing the night with four stolen bases from the leadoff position.
Hunter Anderson also had three runs scored offensively.
Samuel Craig collected two hits at the plate and scattered four hits on the mound over 2-2/3 innings of relief work for the Buffalo, who take the field again at 7 p.m. Wednesday night on the road at Fivay (Hudson).
