Middleton, Fla. — The Villages High School boys basketball team advanced to the next round of the postseason with a stingy defensive effort Wednesday night in Middleton.
The Buffalo rolled past Astronaut (Titusville) in the Class 3A-Region 2 quarterfinals, cruising to a 75-23 win inside the VHS Gymnasium.
With the win, VHS (23-5) will next host Discovery (21-6) in a regional semifinal matchup at 7 p.m. Feb. 17 in Middleton.
The 23 points allowed are the fewest surrendered by VHS in any regional playoff game in program history. The Buffalo limited the War Eagles to just four points in the first quarter and then held the visitors from the Space Coast scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Adyn Corbin and
Jomar Bernard each tallied a game-high 19 points in the win for The Villages, while
Aaron Britt, Jr. added 10 points.
The Buffalo made 14 three-pointers in the victory.
