Middleton, Fla. — The bats weren't away on vacation for The Villages High School softball team during its lone game of spring break on Tuesday night in Middleton.
VHS pounded out a season-high 15 hits in a 10-1 home win over Tavares, helping the Buffalo improve their record to 7-5 overall this spring.
The Villages scored a run in every inning en route to its second-highest scoring output of the season, trailing only a 13-run outburst on Feb. 22 against DeLand.
Lexy Sanchez led the way for VHS with a 3-for-4 night at the plate and a pair of steals on the bases, while the trio of
Emily Thompson,
Alexis Swetnam and
Zoey Schutt each had two hits apiece.
Haylee Nobles struck out five and allowed just one run over four innings of work as the starter, before Thompson closed out the win by tossing three scoreless frames with six strikeouts.
The Buffalo will now enjoy the rest of their spring break away from competition, before returning to action at 7 p.m. March 31 against Forest (Ocala) in Middleton.
