Middleton, Fla. – The Villages High School boys basketball team returned to form Monday night in Middleton.
The Buffalo bounced back from a disappointing three-point loss just 48 hours prior with a runaway win, as they cruised to an 87-46 victory over Bell Creek Academy inside the VHS Gymnasium.
The Villages (15-7 overall) was led by
Jomar Bernard, who paced all scorers on the night with 18 points and went a perfect 9-for-9 at the free-throw line.
Herly Brutus, making his first start since Jan. 5, also tallied 13 points.
The Buffalo jumped out to a 31-11 lead after one quarter of play, a stark contrast from the team's loss to Coral Glades on Saturday in the Iverson Classic Blackout Signature Series. In that 57-54 defeat, VHS was held to a season-low 14 points in the first half.
VHS went on to knock down 11 three-pointers in the win en route to its second-highest point total of the season, with the 87 points scored trailing only a 92-point output in a win over Pine Ridge back on Dec. 2.
Jared Thompson added 11 points and both
Aaron Britt, Jr. and
Miles Simpson had 10 points apiece for the Buffalo, who now turn their attention to North Florida Educational Institute (Jacksonville) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night in Middleton.
