Bartow, Fla. – The Villages High School boys basketball team accomplished a pair of missions Saturday night in Polk County.
The Buffalo wrapped up their regular season with a hard-fought road win and avenged an midseason loss in the process, as VHS pushed away from Bartow for a 63-51 victory at the Mosaic Stinger Shootout.
Aaron Britt, Jr. tallied 20 points and
Herly Brutus added 13 to go along with six rebounds, as VHS (18-7) exacted revenge for a two-point loss to the Yellow Jackets to close the Battle at The Villages back on Dec. 31.
Jared Thompson added six assists in the regular-season finale for the Buffalo, who now look ahead to the Class 3A-District 5 Tournament. Top-seeded VHS will host the winner of Crescent City and Taylor at 6 p.m. Thursday night in Middleton.
