Middleton, Fla. – The Villages High School boys basketball team advanced to the second round of the regional playoffs with ease Saturday night in Middleton.
The Buffalo blew past Discovery, 76-53, to capture the Class 3A-Region 2 quarterfinal matchup before a near-capacity crowd inside the VHS Gymnasium.
With the win, The Villages (21-7) advances onto the regional semifinals against Windermere Prep (22-6) at 7 p.m. on Feb. 21 in Middleton.
Jomar Bernard led the way offensively with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting – including four made 3-pointers – while
Aaron Britt, Jr. had 11 points and
Cam Lee finished with 10.
Ethan Bevis also added eight points and five rebounds.
VHS pulled down 19 offensive rebounds and ripped away 17 steals in the win.
