Middleton, Fla. – The Villages High School boys basketball team is one victory away from a return trip to the FHSAA Final Four.
The Buffalo punched their ticket into the Class 3A-Region 2 championship in dominant fashion Saturday night in Middleton, cruising to a 68-45 win over Windermere Prep before a sellout crowd inside the VHS Gymnasium.
Aaron Britt, Jr. led the way for VHS (22-7) with 21 points on 10-of-16 shooting with six assists, with
Herly Brutus adding 18 points (four made 3-pointers) and eight rebounds.
Ethan Bevis also finished with eight points and seven rebounds, while
Jomar Bernard also tallied eight points in the win.
The Villages outscored Windermere Prep in every quarter of the regional semifinal, but a pair of strong middle frames – outscoring the Lakers, 39-22, over the second and third periods – helped the Buffalo move on.
VHS will now turn its attention to an opportunity to reach the FHSAA Final Four for the fourth consecutive year, after finishing as state runner-up last March for the second time in three seasons.
The Buffalo will travel to Orlando next Saturday night (Feb. 28) to take on No. 1 Lake Highland Prep at 7 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets in advance by clicking
