Middleton, Fla. – Miles Simpson, a sophomore on The Villages High School boys basketball team, will represent the program on a national stage next month in Indianapolis.
Simpson was one of 67 players selected nationally to be invited to a USA Basketball junior national team minicamp, with the event taking place April 3-5 alongside the NCAA Final Four at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The minicamps are used to evaluate players and prepare for international competitions. In addition to on-court drills and scrimmages, athletes also participate in a series of educational programs presented by USA Basketball, the NCAA and the NBA Player Development Program, primarily focused on life-skills education and off-court development.
The camps are held twice a year – once in October and April, respectively – with this April's camp representing the nation's top players from the graduating classes of 2026, 2027 and 2028.
After transferring to The Villages during the offseason, Simpson helped lead the Buffalo to their second straight state runner-up finish earlier this month. The St. Louis native averaged 4.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game this season for VHS.
