Middleton, Fla. – The Villages High School named
Larry Dasher as its next softball head coach on Wednesday.
Dasher, who most recently served as head coach of the junior-varsity baseball team at VHS just last spring, will make his softball head coaching debut at the high school level in 2026.
"I can't even begin to tell everyone how excited I am," Dasher said. "I've always wanted to be on the girls' side of the game and to finally have this opportunity, it's just so special to me. I love baseball, but the game of softball is so much faster and it's exciting, and I feel like I have a chance to do more and make more of an impact now."
Dasher takes over the position from
Juli Woulard, who went 14-11 in her lone season as head coach of the Buffalo last spring. Woulard celebrated the birth of her second child less than two months ago.
"(Woulard) left this program in great shape," Dasher said. "I just turn the key and pick up right where she left off. She's not going away – she's going to be around the program and help the girls out – and I'm excited to have her around. The program has been so good recently and I'm just looking forward to trying to make it even better."
The Central Florida native with more than 30 total years of coaching experience takes over a program that won its first-ever state playoff game last May and has produced six straight winning seasons.
"We are excited to have
Larry Dasher as the next head coach of our softball program," said VHS athletics director
Richard Pettus. "We're looking forward to continuing the success our program has had with his new leadership."
