VHS Selected to Host FHSAA Regional Cheer Competition

Buffalo cheer to serve as host of FHSAA Region 2 competition in January.

Middleton, Fla. — The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) selected The Villages High School and its Middleton campus to serve as a regional competition host on Thursday.

The Buffalo cheer program, led by head coach Amy Zimmerman, received the nod from the state's athletic governing body to host the FHSAA's Competitive Cheerleading Region 2 competition on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, on the VHS campus in Middleton.

This marks the first time The Villages has served as host of a FHSAA cheerleading competition.

The other regional sites selected include Clay HS in Green Cove Springs, Plant City HS in Plant City and South Fork HS in Stuart. The 2026 FHSAA Competitive Cheerleading State Championships will take place Jan. 22-23, 2026, at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

The postseason competition will be the second competitive cheerleading date hosted in Middleton this school year, after VHS hosts its "Buffalo Cheer Showdown" competition during the regular season on Nov. 22.
